California State University (CSU), Chico was founded in 1887 and is
the second-oldest campus in the California State University system. The
University is situated on 119 acres in Chico, California, approximately
100 miles from Sacramento, and 2 miles from the foothills of the Sierra
Nevada.
California State University, Chico, commonly known as Chico State,
has 7 colleges, 6 schools, and 29 centers. It offers more than 400
undergraduate and graduate academic programs, with a student population
of 16,250 derived from 40 nations, 40 states, and 2 U.S. territories.
All students are members of the Associated Students of CSU, Chico, a
multi-million dollar corporation managed by students. The AS is
responsible for the Student Government, Campus Information Services, the
student union (Bell Memorial Union), and other services for students,
including CLIC (community legal services).
